External Training

As a small community based organisation, Oogachaga recognised that it does not have enough resources and manpower to reach out to all LGBTQ individuals in Singapore. It is therefore crucial for Oogachaga to promote the understanding of sexuality issues in Singapore's helping profession. Oogachaga has also completed a small scale study on social services professionals on their understanding on LGBTQ issues in September 2011. We will be releasing the results once it is completed.

Oogachaga works towards empowering these professionals with basic skills and better understanding so that they can work with their LGBTQ clients sensitively. Through this, we also hope that the LGBTQ individuals can seek early and professional help when necessary and their mental wellbeing can be strengthened.

Oogachaga has conducted training workshops and presentations to various social services, mental health, general healthcare and tertiary institutions. Some of the organisations are:

  • Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre

  • Association of Women Action and Research (AWARE)

  • Changi General Hospital

  • Communicable Diseases Centre, Tan Tock Seng Hospital

  • Student Care Services

  • Singapore Civil Defence Force Paracounselling Team

  • Tanjong Pagar Family Service Centre

  • Nanyang Polytechnic

  • National Public Health Unit

  • Nanyang Technology University Counselling Unit

  • National University of Singapore Counselling Unit

If your organisation is interested in our training programs, please contact us at contact@oogachaga.com. Join us in reaching out to LGBTQ individuals who are in need for better support.
